Intent

St Teresa of Lisieux Catholic Primary School, is a community of learners, within which staff and pupils are warmly welcomed and supported to love, learn and grow together.

Our rigorous, engaging, authentic curriculum design is deeply rooted in our commitment to the development of pastoral, spiritual and academic success for all.

Here, every individual is recognised and valued as special and unique, created in the image and likeness of God (Gen 1:27).

Guided by this principle, we are committed to removing barriers to learning, so that all children leaving our school are equipped with knowledge, skills and rich cultural experiences, and are ready to continue their educational journey, with confidence, resilience, curiosity and high aspirations for their future.

Our goal is to ensure that, through a broad, balanced and inclusive curriculum, in addition to the development of fundamental knowledge and skills in Reading, Writing and Maths, children develop an understanding of the wider curriculum, the world around them, and how they can positively impact on their community, locally, nationally and globally.

Our curriculum is shaped and enriched by opportunities and experiences developed with careful consideration to the needs of our pupils and the community that we serve, including for those with special educational needs or disabilities and socially disadvantaged children.

In recognition of the fact that we are all lifelong learners, at St Teresa of Lisieux, we are committed to continuous improvement and development of our curriculum offer, in the light of educational research advances. We embrace the development of subject specific pedagogy and recognise that fact that our curriculum offer must always be aligned with the evolving needs of our pupils.

Community Voice
  • Working in St Teresa’s was brilliant, we had an overwhelming response from both pupils and staff members. We loved working with the school, the children were fantastic and after spending a full week in there, we saw a massive change in their mindset about health and wellbeing.

  • In the summer of 2018 I was working on several multi-million pound building projects – work that any small regional practice would be grateful for – and yet the greatest pleasure by far for me in that year came from working with the teachers and children at St Teresa’s and a small group of dedicated volunteers to realise the dreams of the children in year 5, to create a prayer room out of an old dis-used store room. The process of engaging with these young people, their excitement and enthusiasm – and the opportunity to encourage and help them, was more rewarding and satisfying than anything else I have taken part in, for quite some time.
